Nicolas Beaulieu

Nicolas creates in order to see smiles and to hear people say, “I love wearing your perfume.” That is the ultimate reward: “I like to put my heart and my talent into giving people pleasure, making sure that my love of sharing is accessible to all sorts of people. That’s the luxury of my profession.” As a child, Nicolas lived in a tiny village of twenty inhabitants, in a small house with a garden, and was surrounded by countryside scents. A career advisor offered him the opportunity of a lifetime when she told him about Isipca where he trained. Today, scents are central to his work; they are the source: “I became a perfumer because of smells. It was only later that I was drawn to perfumes. I love combining scents and creating my accords, smelling the raw materials." Nicolas continues to draw inspiration from the earth that marked his childhood. It’s even a passion of his: “I love nature, feeling the soil between my fingers. I love trees because I love the earth. Contact with nature has an immediacy for me.” This love for nature gives him certain proximity with the rare and precious ingredients from Laboratoire Monique Remy, but this doesn’t prevent him from adoring synthetic materials like aldehydes or others that remind him of raw nature. Sharp, harsh greens, from violet leaf to scented cut grass, from galbanum to triplal that he uses with extravagance.

“Perfume provides a

key to elicit emotion.

The primary accord

is emotion.”

— Nicolas Beaulieu
